The remaining students and teachers abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, have regained their freedom.
A security official familiar with the rescue operation confirmed that all remaining victims from the school attack have now been released. On November 21, 2025, suspected terrorists stormed the school, abducting a total of 303 pupils, students, and staff.
The attackers reportedly operated for nearly three hours, moving systematically from one dormitory to another before marching their captives into nearby forests.
About 50 pupils managed to escape within the first 24 hours and were reunited with their families. On December 8, the Federal Government secured the release of 100 more abductees, leaving an unspecified number still in captivity until the latest breakthrough.
Sources said the freed students and teachers are currently being transported to Minna, the Niger State capital, where they are expected to undergo medical checks before reuniting with their families.
As of this report, neither the Federal Government nor the Niger State Government has issued an official statement regarding the development.
