The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for delivering what he described as the “Biafra” Ndigbo have long sought—through inclusive governance and major infrastructure projects in the South East. He emphasized that supporting Tinubu in 2027 is also a vote for him and the region’s governors.

In his New Year message, the former Ebonyi State governor said Nigeria’s toughest period is over, crediting renewed optimism to the Tinubu administration’s strong economic and infrastructural policies. He predicted that the coming year would bring transformative changes across all sectors.

Umahi called on the people of the South East to continue backing President Tinubu, describing him as a consolation to the region after years of marginalization. He expressed confidence that the region would correct what he called the mistakes of the 2023 general elections by rallying behind Tinubu in future polls.

“Our people will never make the mistake of 2023 again. We shall remain resolute and stand strongly together behind Mr. President in the 2027 election,” Umahi said. “Ndigbo will not be deceived again by politicians with sugar-coated promises.”

He insisted that Tinubu had addressed the long-standing neglect of the South East by previous administrations and assured that regional leaders would firmly support him if he runs again in 2027.

“One of our brothers has already said he will be on the ballot in 2027, but I am telling Ndigbo that President Tinubu will be on the ballot. Once he is on the ballot, all the governors of the South East are on the ballot, and I, as Minister of Works, am also on the ballot,” Umahi stated.

The minister further argued that the Biafra many Igbos fought for has been realized through national integration, inclusion, and equal participation in governance.

“President Tinubu has reopened our chapter and is massively investing in our future. Indeed, the Biafra is here,” he concluded.
