Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly close to leaving the club after tensions with the Blues’ hierarchy worsened.

The former Leicester City boss skipped his usual post-match press conference following Tuesday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Bournemouth, a game in which he was also booed by Stamford Bridge fans.

Sources suggest Maresca may not be in charge for Chelsea’s upcoming trip to Manchester City on Sunday. Reports indicate he wants to leave the club, but it’s unclear whether he is willing to walk away without a payoff, as his contract runs until 2029 with an option for an additional year.

According to The Guardian, a parting of ways could be announced as early as Thursday, ahead of the high-profile away clash.

Frictions between Maresca and the club have been apparent for some time. Earlier this month, after a 2-0 victory over Everton, he commented: “Since I joined the club, the last 48 hours have been the worst 48 hours since I joined the club because many people didn’t support us.”

When asked to clarify, he repeated: “Worst 48 hours since I joined the club because people didn’t support me and the team,” highlighting the growing disconnect with Chelsea’s management and staff.
