Nigerian cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has once again asserted that a “Christian genocide” is taking place in the country, a claim he restated during a recent interview with Channels TV.
Speaking on the programme, Dachomo argued that the religious identities of both the President and the Vice President—who are Muslims—serve as evidence of what he describes as political marginalization of Christians.
According to him, the only way to correct this “impression” is for the current Vice President to be replaced with a Christian.
In his words:
“Shettima is a Muslim, the President is a Muslim. Is that not complete genocide to Christians in the political world? A complete genocide. The way forward is to remove genocide.”
Dachomo’s comments have stirred conversations online and offline, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions on his remarks and the broader issue of religious representation in political leadership.
