Kim Kardashian has voiced her opposition to recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Los Angeles, which have sparked widespread protests across the United States.

The raids are part of President Donald Trump’s aggressive deportation policy targeting undocumented immigrants. On Friday, June 6, mass demonstrations erupted in Los Angeles and have continued for several days.

In a highly controversial move, President Trump deployed thousands of National Guard troops and 700 Marines to the city—without the approval of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Governor Newsom criticized the decision, calling it one that “inflamed a combustible situation.” The state of California has since filed a legal challenge against the federal deployment.

In response to the raids, Kim Kardashian took to Instagram Stories to share her concerns:

“When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals—great. But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what’s right.”

She continued:

“Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city. They are our neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family.

No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants. We can’t turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”

Kardashian’s remarks add to a growing chorus of voices condemning the raids and the federal government’s handling of immigration enforcement in Los Angeles.
