A man identified as Esosa Imasuen has been accused of killing his wife, Chinwendu Nnadozie, in Benin City, Edo State.
According to reports, Imasuen allegedly assaulted the mother of three following a domestic dispute at their residence on Oza Street in the Ogbelaka area, along the Sakponba Road axis of the state capital. The attack reportedly left Chinwendu with severe injuries.
She was rushed to the hospital, where medical personnel diagnosed her with internal bleeding believed to be caused by the beating. Despite efforts to save her, she later died from her injuries.
Speaking to the press, the deceased’s father, Everistus Nnadozie, said he was informed that his son-in-law had physically assaulted his daughter, leading to her hospitalization.
“They said he took her to the hospital, where a doctor carried out some tests and discovered she had internal bleeding,” he recounted.
Mr. Nnadozie said his daughter passed away before he could reach the hospital. He also expressed concern that he was not allowed to see her body, as Imasuen allegedly took it to an undisclosed mortuary without informing the family.
“I went to his house, but they said he had absconded,” the grieving father said. “I’ve been calling him to show me where my daughter’s body is, but he has not responded.”
Authorities are reportedly investigating the incident, while efforts are ongoing to locate Esosa Imasuen.
