The Ministry of Interior has launched a new digital platform aimed at streamlining the application and processing of citizenship and business-related services in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Saturday, May 17, Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, announced that the platform is part of ongoing reforms to promote transparency, enhance operational efficiency, and improve overall service delivery. According to Ajani, the new system is expected to provide faster turnaround times and a more seamless user experience.
“Members of the public, corporate entities, and other stakeholders can access the platform through the following official channels:
- Ministry of Interior Website: interior.gov.ng
- Direct Portal Access: candb.interior.gov.ng
- Support or Inquiries: [email protected],” the statement reads.
Ajani emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to building a more efficient, transparent, and secure framework for citizenship administration, while continually improving service delivery through digital transformation.
This initiative follows a series of digital reforms introduced by the ministry. In February, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced plans to implement digital landing and exit cards for visitors entering or leaving Nigeria, to be completed prior to arrival.
He also highlighted the importance of harmonizing Nigeria’s immigration data system and integrating it with both national and international databases. According to Tunji-Ojo, this harmonization will ensure that no approvals are granted without real-time verification from INTERPOL, criminal record databases, and other background-checking agencies—ultimately strengthening national security and informed decision-making.
