Ovey John, the legislator representing Keffi East Constituency for the Peoples Democratic Party in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), has been removed from office by a decision from the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Lafia.

In its judgment delivered on Sunday, October 1, a three-member panel led by Justice Francisca Isong Nnang concluded that INEC made an error when it declared the PDP candidate as the winner, neglecting Isah Adamu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The tribunal pointed out that the margin by which Ovey was leading, amounting to 1004 votes, was less than the total number of voters accredited in the four (4) polling units where INEC nullified the elections.

The Justice Francisca Isong Nnang-led tribunal also mandated a re-run election to be conducted in the four affected polling units, namely: Yarkade Primary School 003, Angwan Maiganga 014, Police Station 2, and Angwan Nepa within the constituency.
