Pep Guardiola has ascended to the second position on the list of the most successful managers of all time, following Manchester City’s triumphant penalty shootout against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, August 16th.

This victory secured Guardiola’s 36th title, achieved over his tenures with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City.

Nonetheless, the accomplished Spanish coach finds himself in pursuit of 13 more trophies to match the remarkable 49 tournaments clinched by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson during his extensive reign as one of the world’s preeminent managers.

These titles were amassed over a span of 39 years in management, in stark contrast to Guardiola’s remarkable feat of accumulating 36 titles in a mere 14 active years on the touchline. This astounding achievement equates to an average of 2.5 championship victories per season, as reported by Marca.

Notably, Guardiola has etched his name in history by becoming the inaugural coach to secure the European Super Cup with three distinct teams. His prior triumphs include leading Barcelona to victory in 2009 and 2011, guiding Bayern Munich to success in 2013, and culminating with Manchester City’s win in 2023.

Guardiola’s illustrious career has been marked by a plethora of triumphs across Europe, spanning three of the continent’s most esteemed clubs.

During his four-year tenure with Barcelona, he garnered an impressive collection of 14 trophies, which encompassed three La Liga titles, two Champions League triumphs, and the FIFA Club World Cup, twice over.

As the helm of Bayern Munich from 2013 to 2016, Guardiola secured three Bundesliga titles and the FIFA Club World Cup, among a grand total of seven trophies amassed during his tenure in Munich.

Since his arrival at Manchester City in 2016, he has orchestrated the acquisition of five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields, culminating in the Champions League victory in June and the Super Cup triumph on Wednesday night. This accumulation of silverware amounts to a remarkable tally of 15 trophies throughout the course of the past seven years.
