Kassy Chukwu, a digital media aide to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has publicly apologised after releasing a video threatening to ban singer Davido from performing in the state.
The apology followed widespread backlash over his initial comments.
In a new video, Chukwu clarified that his outburst was a personal reaction and did not represent the official position of the Edo State Government.
He had earlier accused Davido of insulting Governor Okpebholo and his children and declared the singer persona non grata in the state.
Following the criticism, Chukwu issued a three-part apology to the governor, members of the public, and Davido. He also formally retracted the proposed performance ban, stating that the singer remains welcome in Edo State.
Edo State is also the birthplace of Davido’s late mother.
