Governor Yusuf Releases N300m for Hisbah Mass Wedding Beneficiaries in Kano

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has approved the release of N300 million to support couples participating in the state’s Hisbah Mass Wedding Scheme, providing financial assistance and essential household items to help newlyweds begin married life.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, during a pre-marital orientation programme held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano.

According to Daurawa, each bride will receive N200,000, which will cover marriage-related expenses, including the payment of dowry, while also serving as start-up support for the new family. The funds will be paid directly into the beneficiaries’ individual bank accounts once they complete the account-opening process.

In addition to the financial support, the state government will provide each couple with household furniture and other essential items to help them settle into their new homes. Every groom will also receive 10 yards of fabric, a cap, a pair of shoes, and food supplies as part of the governor’s welfare package.

Daurawa explained that the initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden many young couples face at the beginning of marriage while giving them a stronger foundation for family life.

He further revealed that the state government has planned a grand wedding reception for the couples on Saturday at the Government House. The event is expected to attract prominent Islamic scholars from across Nigeria, who will offer prayers and blessings for the newly married couples.

Addressing the prospective spouses, the Hisbah commander urged husbands to treat their wives with kindness, fairness, and a sense of responsibility. He also encouraged the brides to remain patient and supportive as they build their families together.

Speaking on conflict resolution, Daurawa emphasized the importance of reconciliation in marriage, noting that the Hisbah Board encourages mediation before any decision to dissolve a union.

He also invited beneficiaries from previous editions of the mass wedding programme to attend Saturday’s reception, saying their participation would inspire the new couples and strengthen the goals of the initiative.
