Police Apprehend Suspected Bandits’ Drug Supplier in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious drug dealer allegedly supplying illicit substances to armed bandits operating in Funtua Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.

The suspect, identified as Sunday Eze, popularly known as “Dunbuje,” was arrested by operatives attached to the Central Police Station in Funtua following an intelligence-led operation.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the suspect was apprehended at about 5:00 p.m. on July 15 after officers trailed him based on credible intelligence.

Aliyu said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of 500 tablets of D5, an illicit drug allegedly meant for distribution to criminal elements.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicate that the suspect specialised in supplying the drugs to suspected armed bandits and other criminal groups terrorising Funtua and surrounding communities, thereby aiding their operations.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect remains in custody while investigators work to dismantle his alleged distribution network, identify his source of supply, and apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Aliyu said.
