A prominent Zimbabwean doctor and business executive, Dr David Madzikanda, has told a Harare magistrate that two women involved in an ongoing cyberbullying case are both his girlfriends, while maintaining that he is legally married to only one wife.
Dr Madzikanda made the remarks while testifying as a State witness before Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki during the trial of Tsitsi Mutseriwa, who has accused Millicent Murape of cyberbullying and harassment.
According to The Herald, Dr Madzikanda told the court that he has never married Mutseriwa and has no intention of doing so.
“I never married Mutseriwa and will never marry her. I have only one wife at home who works in a bank,” he said.
The doctor testified that the dispute between the two women began after Murape became pregnant, which he said sparked tensions between them.
He told the court that in July 2025, he had visited Mutseriwa’s residence for lunch when Murape unexpectedly arrived, resulting in a confrontation.
Addressing allegations of property damage, Dr Madzikanda said he owned the property where windows were allegedly broken and argued that only he had the legal standing to report any damage. He also alleged that Mutseriwa later demanded that he build her a house and buy her a car in exchange for withdrawing the case.
Mutseriwa, however, gave a different account. She told the court that Murape had initially been her tenant before starting a relationship with Dr Madzikanda.
She accused Murape of sending abusive WhatsApp messages, vandalising her property by breaking windows, and accusing her of using witchcraft in an attempt to cause Murape to miscarry.
According to the prosecution, the alleged abusive messages began on July 5, 2025, with more messages sent the following day. Murape is also accused of throwing stones at the property, damaging window panes, and claiming that she would soon become the property’s landlady.
Mutseriwa further testified that she once found Dr Madzikanda inside Murape’s apartment and waited outside for about an hour before he emerged. She also alleged that the doctor has four other wives.
Dr Madzikanda denied being married to Mutseriwa and told the court that the child he shares with Murape was planned.
The matter remains before the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
