Woman charged after fleeing traffic stop and crashing, killing her three young children

A North Carolina woman is facing multiple charges after authorities alleged she fled a traffic stop at speeds of up to 111 mph before crashing, killing her three young sons.

Megan Symone Scott, 31, has been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and several other offenses in connection with the June 3 crash in Fayetteville, according to court documents.

Investigators said Scott sped away from officers after they attempted to stop her following an earlier domestic disturbance.

According to an arrest affidavit, data recovered from Scott’s Kia Forte showed the vehicle reached 111 mph before crossing the center line. The car reportedly overcorrected and crashed into a tree along Highway 53.

Authorities said Scott and two of her sons were ejected from the vehicle. Two of the children died at the scene, while the third later died at a hospital.

Court documents allege Scott was driving with a revoked license and that none of the children were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

Investigators also accused Scott of assaulting her boyfriend earlier that day by biting him and attempting to run him over after he got out of the vehicle.

Police said two officers were struck while Scott fled the attempted traffic stop.

Scott was arrested on June 15, 2026, and remains in custody after a judge denied her bond request.

In addition to the three counts of involuntary manslaughter, Scott faces charges including assault on law enforcement officers, assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, reckless driving, speeding, driving with a revoked license, and multiple child restraint violations.
