“We’ve made history again” — Mikel Arteta reacts as Arsenal F.C. are confirmed Premier League champions.

Mikel Arteta has broken his silence after Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions.

The Gunners secured their first league title in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw away at Bournemouth on Tuesday, just 24 hours after Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium. The results left Arsenal four points clear of City with only one game remaining.

Arsenal last won the Premier League in the 2003/04 season, when Arsène Wenger’s side famously went unbeaten throughout the campaign and earned the nickname “The Invincibles.”

Following confirmation of the title triumph, Arsenal released a video featuring Arteta delivering a message to the club’s supporters.

Arteta said: “We made history again, together. I cannot be happier or prouder of everybody involved in this football club. Let’s enjoy the moment.”

The club’s last title-winning manager before Arteta, Arsène Wenger, also appeared in the video and congratulated the team.

Wenger said: “You did it. Champions keep going when others stop. This is your time. Now go on and enjoy every moment.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also congratulated Arsenal after his side’s draw at Bournemouth confirmed the Gunners as champions.

Guardiola told reporters: “Congratulations to Arsenal, Mikel, the staff, backroom staff and the fans for this Premier League title. It is well deserved.

“At the same time, in my managerial career, this has been one of the toughest years we have fought through, with incredible things we could not control, and we were still there, never giving up.

“I would have loved to take it to the final moment and try, even though it was not in our hands. But today, the fatigue was there.”
