US President Donald Trump has revealed that First Lady Melania Trump is not a fan of his signature campaign dance moves.
Speaking at a rally in The Villages, Florida, the 79-year-old said his wife considers the routine—where he pumps his fists while swaying to music—“unpresidential.”
“She hates when I dance,” Trump told the audience at The Villages Charter School. He added that the First Lady also disapproves of his frequent use of the 1978 hit “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People, which he jokingly described as “the gay national anthem.”
Despite her criticism, Trump defended both the song and his dance, saying, “We love that song,” and claiming that crowds often “go crazy” and “scream” for him to perform it.
The president has previously contrasted his energetic style with his wife’s “classy” preferences. He also recalled a conversation in which she asked whether he could imagine former President Franklin D. Roosevelt dancing. Trump responded by pointing to his political success, saying, “But I did become president.”
