The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued two abducted women during a joint operation with local security groups in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on August 30 at about 7:45 p.m. when three women — Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat — were abducted at Oke-Ile in Idofin Igbana.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the police, working with the Local Government Security Initiative, launched a search operation in the surrounding bushes.
“At Ago Alu Fulani camp along the Idofin/Olla road, two of the victims were rescued after the kidnappers abandoned them on sighting the team. However, they escaped with one victim, Ahmed Aminat,” sources said.
The five suspects — Abubakar Seriki Juli, Mohammadu Bello, Abubakar Sodiq (20), Abubakar Bako, and another Mohammadu Bello — all residents of Idofin Aiyekale, were arrested at Ago Alu Fulani camp in connection with the crime.
One of the rescued victims identified two of the suspects as part of those who carried out the abduction.
Police said efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and track down other fleeing members of the gang.
