R&B star SZA posted on X:
“Mercury retrograde… don’t take the bait lol silly goose.”
No names were mentioned, and no shade was explicitly thrown — but the timing? Highly suspicious.
Just hours earlier, Nicki Minaj had been on X calling out Top Dawg Entertainment president Punch, labeling him a “tiny d**k executive” and blaming him for online bullying. So when SZA — signed to that very label — tweeted her retrograde warning, many, including Nicki herself, saw it as a subtle jab.
That’s when things spiraled.
Nicki Minaj launched into a full-blown Twitter tirade, taking SZA’s vague comment as a personal attack. What followed was a fierce exchange that quickly escalated into one of the most chaotic celebrity Twitter feuds in recent memory.
Nicki didn’t hold back. In a series of since-deleted tweets, she questioned SZA’s relevance and career:
“Wait. Does SZA think she’s more successful than me? Lol y’all catch me up pls.”

She also mocked SZA’s appearance and vocal style:

Nicki went further, accusing SZA of using autotune to “yodel,” botting her streams and tweets, and dragged her into an unrelated legal controversy, repeatedly referencing hashtags like #JusticeForDemoree and #DepositionPerez.
In between the insults, Nicki made her position clear:
“Boo I’m an icon. You’re not. The end.”
“Sounding like a f**king dead dog.”
She even suggested that her outburst wouldn’t have happened had SZA not posted that tweet — but since she did, it was “game on.”
