UNIZIK Expels Student for Assaulting Lecturer Over Dance Video Incident
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has expelled Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious following her viral altercation with Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer at the institution.
In an official statement, the university confirmed that the expulsion takes immediate effect.
The statement reads:
“The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, wishes to inform the public about the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings concerning the recent incident involving Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies.
- The individuals involved were granted a fair hearing by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. After thorough review, the actions of Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, a 300-level student in the Department of History and International Studies, were deemed to constitute gross misconduct and a violation of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
- Based on the findings and recommendations of the Committee, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved the immediate expulsion of Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
- She is required to leave the university premises immediately and return all university property in her possession.
- The university management, under the leadership of Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, remains committed to upholding discipline, ensuring a safe learning environment, and fostering academic excellence and character development.”
