UNIZIK Expels Student for Assaulting Lecturer Over Dance Video Incident
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has expelled Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious following her viral altercation with Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer at the institution.
In an official statement, the university confirmed that the expulsion takes immediate effect.
The statement reads:
“The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, wishes to inform the public about the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings concerning the recent incident involving Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies.
The individuals involved were granted a fair hearing by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. After thorough review, the actions of Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, a 300-level student in the Department of History and International Studies, were deemed to constitute gross misconduct and a violation of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
Based on the findings and recommendations of the Committee, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved the immediate expulsion of Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
She is required to leave the university premises immediately and return all university property in her possession.
The university management, under the leadership of Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, remains committed to upholding discipline, ensuring a safe learning environment, and fostering academic excellence and character development.”
