An Israeli news anchor, Lital Shemesh, was observed with a gun live on air from the studio amid concerns about a potential Hamas attack. Shemesh, a presenter for Channel 14, a right-wing Israeli broadcaster, was pictured on January 2 with a gun visibly tucked into the waistband of her trousers while behind her anchor desk.
The firearm was positioned next to her microphone receivers as she sat on the edge of her presenter chair.
In a recent social media post, Shemesh showcased her shooting skills on a gun range, urging people to ‘get your guns out.’ She also shared images of herself reporting from the frontlines and in her soldier’s uniform.
As a journalist and Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reservist, she has spoken about her commitment to fighting against Hamas.
Following the October 7 attack, where fears of another Hamas offensive have been rising, Shemesh emphasized the country’s collective recruitment to combat terrorism. She expressed her perspective to Fox News, stating, “We haven’t seen a slaughter like this in Israel in the 75 years of Israel’s existence. This is a second holocaust for us.” The October 7 attack resulted in the death of 1,140 people, with the majority being civilians, according to an estimate based on official Israeli figures.
