Emmy-nominated actor Percy Hynes White has reportedly been removed from the cast of the popular Netflix series “Wednesday,” following allegations of misconduct made against him nine months ago, stemming from an incident at a Toronto party.

The 22-year-old Canadian actor, known for his role as Xavier Thorpe in the Addams Family spinoff, portrayed a student at Wednesday’s school with the unique ability to bring art to life.

A source closely connected to his family, who divides their time between residences in Toronto and Newfoundland, has confirmed this development.

The allegations initially surfaced in a now-deleted Tweet posted by an anonymous individual on January 18th. The accuser claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Hynes White during a party he was hosting, alleging that he had orchestrated the event to inebriate women with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.

An insider defended Hynes White, stating, “Percy is a wonderful young man, and that’s the truth. He vehemently denied all the false claims made against him on Twitter, none of which were substantiated or pursued. Percy is a respectful, gracious, and talented actor, a consummate professional. He consistently shows politeness to everyone, including his colleagues and loyal fans, as it should be. Netflix’s decision to remove him from the show based on these false rumors is a disgrace. It simply isn’t right.”

Netflix, on the other hand, contends that no casting decisions have been made due to ongoing strikes within the entertainment industry.

Both Hynes White and his parents, who are also actors and writers, have vehemently denied the allegations. Hynes White described the situation as a “campaign of misinformation” in an impassioned Instagram post in June, where he clarified:

“Earlier this year, someone I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. This campaign has led to doxxing of my family, death threats against my friends, and the use of underage photos of me taken out of context. I’ve also been portrayed as someone I’m not through cherry-picked examples of me in character. My friend Jane was falsely presented as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been disregarded. She has given me permission to share her statement.”

He continued, “The rumors are false, and I cannot accept the portrayal of me as a bigoted or criminally negligent person. Such baseless and harmful claims can erode trust in legitimate victims. It’s deeply distressing to know that this misinformation has caused distress to people. I am genuinely grateful to those who have supported me and helped disseminate the truth. The harassment of my family, friends, and colleagues must stop. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”

“Wednesday,” which has received double Emmy nominations, presents a fresh storyline for the character of Wednesday Addams, who is expelled from school for her antics and enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a Vermont institution for “monstrous outcasts” attended by her parents, Gomez and Morticia.

Percy Hynes White’s character is also a student at Nevermore.

Hynes White’s father, actor and novelist Joel Thomas Hynes, aged 47, has publicly supported his son, asserting that he has been unjustly accused:

“I once blindly subscribed to the saying ‘where there’s smoke, there’s fire.’ However, these past few months have made one thing abundantly clear: sometimes, all there is, is smoke.”

He added, “This anonymous online hatred wields significant power, but what truly fuels these campaigns is a culture of fear and silence that discourages ANYONE from defending the wrongly accused, for fear of becoming a target themselves. If publicly supporting my kind and talented son means exposing myself to backlash, so be it.”

He concluded, “Malcolm X famously said, ‘I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against.’ When the smoke finally dissipates, I will still be here, standing by my son, unwavering in my belief that truth will prevail. Let there be light.”

Hynes-White’s mother, Sherry White, aged 52, who is a successful writer and film producer, reposted her husband’s statement in solidarity.
