Police investigate killing of Ogun broadcaster and security guard

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, who were reportedly shot dead by suspected gunmen.

In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters on Sunday, June 21, after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village raised the alarm over suspicious activities at the deceased’s residence.

“Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where a preliminary assessment revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance.

“During a thorough search of the premises, the body of the security guard was found inside the security post, while Ms Oyesiku’s corpse was later discovered inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also found to be missing from the premises.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. An intensive investigation is ongoing to establish the facts, track down, and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime, while ensuring that everyone involved is brought to justice.

“Surveillance and intelligence-led operations have also been expanded across relevant locations as part of ongoing proactive measures,” the statement read.

The Ogun State Police Command extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, the Ogun State Television (OGTV) community, the media fraternity, and all those affected by the tragic incident.

The command also assured the public that no effort would be spared in ensuring justice is served. It urged residents to remain calm and vigilant and to provide any useful information that could assist investigators in the ongoing probe.
