Bayelsa police arrest man allegedly found with suspected human parts

The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral report alleging that a man was found in possession of suspected human parts in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Musa Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. He said a 40-year-old suspect, identified as Peter Alale, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was found with a broken white plate containing suspected human parts.

However, during interrogation, Alale reportedly claimed that he found the items at Sagbama Council Secretariat Junction, Mile 3, and was attempting to dispose of them in a nearby bush before he was apprehended.

The police added that the recovered items had been taken for medical examination and analysis to determine whether they were indeed human parts.

Mohammed said the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, CP Iyamah Daniel, had ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter.

“The attention of the Bayelsa State Police Command has been drawn to a publication circulating on social media with the caption: ‘Ritualist Caught with Fresh Human Heart,’” the statement read.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect, one Peter Alale, male, 40 years old, from Agbere Community, Sagbama LGA, Bayelsa State, has been arrested and was found in possession of a broken white plate containing suspected human parts.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed to have found the suspected human parts at Sagbama Council Secretariat Junction, Mile 3, Sagbama, and was attempting to dispose of them in a nearby bush before he was arrested.

“Furthermore, the exhibits have been recovered for medical examination and analysis to ascertain whether they are human parts.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Iyamah Daniel, psc, IICFIP, foosi, has directed a thorough and immediate investigation into the incident and urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified or sensational information that may cause unnecessary panic.

“The Bayelsa State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and will continue to take decisive action against all forms of criminality.”
