Six students of the Federal University, Lokoja, have been arrested by operatives of the Kogi State Police Command over alleged cyberstalking and assault.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 14, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, said the arrests followed a complaint by a male student who reported being cyberstalked. She identified the suspects as Inajo Henry, Nzekwe Victor, Lucky Victor, Lucky Gambo, Paul David, and another 17-year-old male student of the institution.
“The Kogi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on March 30, 2026, a case involving criminal conspiracy, use of criminal force, defamation of character, assault, and cyberstalking was reported at ‘B’ Division, Lokoja, by one Oladosu Sunday, a student of Federal University Lokoja. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation,” she said.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, without credible evidence, falsely accused the victim of being homosexual and conspired to lure him to their apartment near the Living Faith Church area in Felele, Lokoja, on March 29, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m.
The police said the suspects allegedly confined the victim in a room, forcibly stripped him naked, and subjected him to inhumane assault using belts and charging cords while recording the act. The video was later circulated online, where it went viral within the university community.
“The suspects admitted during interrogation that their actions were premeditated and based solely on unverified assumptions about the victim’s behaviour,” the statement added.
Afusat noted that the investigation has been concluded and the suspects have been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
