Businessman Isaac Fayose has expressed the view that Nigerian security agents often display aggression due to poor remuneration, which he described as not being a “living wage.”
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Fayose, who is currently in Cape Town, claimed that the basic salary of a soldier in South Africa is about N2 million per month, while a Nigerian soldier earns roughly N2 million annually.
He argued that this disparity in earnings contributes to the frustration seen among Nigerian security personnel, leading to aggressive behavior in their interactions with both colleagues and civilians.
Fayose made the remarks while reacting to a trending video showing naval and army officers fighting during President Tinubu’s visit to Bayelsa on Friday, April 10.
“The reason why they are fighting each other is because they are frustrated and underpaid,” he said.
