A middle-aged woman, identified as Mrs. Chioma Ogu, was on Monday, March 2, killed after a truck loaded with chippings rammed into her residence in Iho, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
Her husband also sustained serious injuries and is currently in critical condition at a hospital. Residents said the mother of three had been preparing for her late mother’s burial scheduled for this weekend when the tragic incident occurred.
The truck driver was allegedly asleep when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and crashed into the building.
According to residents, the incident happened late Monday night after many people in the area had retired to their homes, with some already asleep.
The Imo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
