Superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s £61 million private jet has left Saudi Arabia in the middle of the night amid escalating conflict in the region.

The development follows reports that the US embassy in the Saudi capital was hit by two drones overnight, while Iranian state media claimed that a command and staff building in Bahrain had also been destroyed.

Riyadh, where Ronaldo lives with his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, and his five children, has reportedly come under attack as fighting enters a fourth day. Foreign nationals are said to be fleeing the Middle East in large numbers, with details of Ronaldo’s jet travelling to Madrid emerging online.

According to Mail Online, a flight tracker showed that the Bombardier Global Express aircraft made the nearly seven-hour journey to the Spanish capital. The luxury jet reportedly departed at 8:00 p.m. and arrived at almost 1:00 a.m. Data from Flightradar24 showed the aircraft’s path, flying over Egypt and the Mediterranean before reaching Spain.

The United States Department of State had earlier urged Americans to leave more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries due to heightened safety risks.

Travellers east of Egypt were reportedly advised to depart, and several flights bound for Riyadh overnight were seen turning back, as thousands of foreign nationals attempted to leave the conflict zone.
