Nigerian comedian Koffi has called for the immediate arrest of social media influencer, King Mitchy, following videos in which she allegedly filmed herself consuming harmful substances in what many have described as staged suicide attempts.

The controversy comes after her public dispute with social critic VeryDarkMan over issues surrounding her NGO and some reportedly unfinished projects. Amid the online backlash, King Mitchy went live on social media twice, appearing to drink two different harmful substances in what she suggested were attempts to take her own life.

She later released a press statement claiming she had been admitted to a hospital in Abuja after the incident. However, the hospital reportedly denied having any record of admitting her and stated that they were unaware of her case.

Reacting to the development, Koffi strongly condemned her actions and urged authorities to take swift action.

According to him, regardless of the disagreement between her and VeryDarkMan, the influencer’s conduct sends a dangerous message to young people.

“This young lady that has been having issues with Very Dark Man, I want her to be arrested immediately. I don’t care what their issue is or what they are dragging. Just the other day, I posted that young people should be careful of who they choose as influencers. What that young lady has come on camera to do is setting the tone and pace for a future we cannot control,” he said.

Koffi further expressed concern that showcasing such acts publicly could influence vulnerable youths.

“Hypo sachet is readily available. It is everywhere. That young lady is sending a signal to a lot of young people of what to do if need be. It is an antecedent that we must curb immediately. A lot of people do not know that committing suicide is a crime. What she has done is terrible in all regards. She is showing young people that if you can no longer withstand the heat, the way out is to end it — and that is a very wrong signal to send.”

The alleged staged incidents were said to have taken place in Abuja. As of the time of this report, the FCT Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the matter. Efforts to reach the FCT Police spokesperson for comments were unsuccessful.
