Ghanaian police have arrested self-proclaimed prophet Evans Eshun, also known as Ebo Noah, after he predicted a worldwide flood on December 25, 2025, sparking public panic.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest in a statement on their official website on Wednesday. Eshun was taken into custody by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team as part of efforts to monitor cyber-related activities ahead of the year-end religious celebrations.
According to the police statement, the arrest followed widespread online reports linking Eshun’s prophecies to public fear. The authorities noted that individuals making predictions or statements that could incite panic, especially during end-of-year religious events, may face legal scrutiny under existing public order and cybercrime laws.
“The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Evans Eshun, also known as Ebo Noah, by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team,” the statement read. “The arrest was part of ongoing efforts to address cyber-related activities and ensure public safety during the period leading up to 31st night religious services.”
Police sources say Eshun is currently in custody to assist with investigations. No formal charges, court dates, or bail conditions have been announced, and it remains unclear if others are involved. Authorities urged the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and allow the investigation to proceed, stressing that Eshun is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The arrest comes after Eshun reportedly built eight arks and claimed that only those inside them would survive a global flood on Christmas Day. His warnings caused panic among residents and sparked intense online discussions in Ghana and internationally.
