Controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has broken his silence after being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The agency had earlier accused him of offenses including cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and r@pe. This followed a viral Instagram Live session where the singer claimed he had slept with a 15-year-old girl—a statement that sparked outrage online. NAPTIP invited him for questioning, but he failed to show up. Last Friday, the agency posted a “wanted” notice with his photo on their official social media pages.

In a video posted on June 30, Speed Darlington denied any wrongdoing. According to him, the only thing he may be guilty of is speaking recklessly online—but not committing any actual crime.

“This video is for NAPTIP,” he said. “All this ‘wanted’ you posted and blasted everywhere—take that sh*t down. I’m not coming! I have not committed any crime. All I did was speak. Irresponsible talk is not a crime.”

He accused the agency of using his name to gain social media attention and appear active in the eyes of the public.

“You just want to use me to chase clout… to make it look like you’re doing your job because I’m a celebrity. I was born here. I know the psychological game—using my name to blow.”

In a bold move, Speed Darlington demanded to be paid ₦2.5 million before he would consider appearing before any investigative panel.

“₦2.5 million is what I charge for an appearance. You’ll also pay for round-trip tickets for me and my PA. This is just for showing up, because there’s no evidence and no crime.”

He went further to say that the agency’s sudden interest in him was driven by online outrage, particularly from “single women in their 20s and 30s” who pressured NAPTIP to take action.

“Who did I stalk? Who did I bully? Did I mention any names? You people just throw English around to intimidate and look important,” he said.

As of now, NAPTIP has not issued a response to his video.
