U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is unlikely to continue enriching uranium following recent American airstrikes on its nuclear facilities. He also rejected Iranian assertions that key components of its nuclear program were relocated prior to the strikes.

In a recent interview, Trump downplayed concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “The last thing they want to do is enrich anything right now. They want to recover,” he said. Mocking the idea of Iran restarting its nuclear program, he added, “Can you imagine after all that they say, ‘Oh, let’s go and do a bomb’? They’re not going to have a bomb, and they’re not going to enrich.”

In a surprising remark, Trump described the airstrikes as “a tremendous victory for everybody — even for Iran.” He elaborated, “They’ve got a country, they’ve got oil, and they’re very smart people. They can come back. I think we’ll end up having somewhat of a relationship with them.”

Speaking to reporters at The Hague, Trump dismissed Tehran’s claim that enriched uranium had been moved out of the Fordow nuclear facility before the strikes. “I believe they didn’t have a chance to get anything out because they acted fast,” he said. “If it had taken two weeks, maybe. But it’s very hard to remove that kind of material… and very dangerous.” He added, “Plus, they knew we were coming. And if they know we’re coming, they’re not going to be down there.”

Trump’s comments come days after the U.S. carried out targeted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites — a move that has sparked widespread international concern and calls for de-escalation.

While Iran has condemned the strikes and accused Washington of aggression, Trump maintains the operation was a strategic success, one he believes will pressure Tehran to rethink its nuclear plans.
