British media personality Piers Morgan has criticized former First Lady Michelle Obama for her recent comments regarding the Trump administration’s deportation policies.
Speaking on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Michelle Obama expressed concern over what she described as racially motivated immigration decisions during Donald Trump’s presidency. She voiced fears for communities of color, suggesting that systemic racism and ignorance played a role in shaping such policies.
“There’s so much bias and so much racism and so much ignorance that fuels those kinds of choices. I worry for people of color all over this country, and I don’t know that we will have the advocates to protect everybody. And that … frightens me, it keeps me up at night,” she said.
Piers Morgan responded sharply to Obama’s remarks, pointing out that her husband, former President Barack Obama, had also faced criticism for his record on deportations. He referred to Barack Obama as the “greatest deporter in U.S. presidential history,” citing the deportation of over three million people during his two terms in office.
“Her husband was the greatest deporter in U.S. presidential history—kicking out 3m+ people in 8yrs. Did THAT keep her up at night?” Morgan posted on social media.
The exchange has reignited debate over immigration policy and the legacies of recent U.S. administrations.
