Officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a raid on Tuesday at the Lagos residence of Nigerian musician Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, widely recognized as Skales. During the operation, the EFCC arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud: Udemba Chukwuemeka, also known as “Jody,” and Jamal Jamiu Onasola, also known as “Jamal.”
The anti-graft agency made this information public through an official statement on its verified X handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. The EFCC accused the suspects of engaging in deceptive practices targeting unsuspecting individuals through romance scams.
According to the EFCC’s statement: “Operatives from the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, carried out an arrest on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at House F10, Victoria Crest 4, Lekki, Lagos.”
“The apprehended individuals, Udemba Chukwuemeka (a.k.a Jody) and Jamal Jamiu Onasola (a.k.a. Jamal), were taken into custody at the residence of the musician, John Njeng Njeng (a.k.a Skales).”
“Both suspects are believed to be involved in a dating scam and have referred to Njeng as their ‘mentor.’ While Chukwuemeka has resided in Njeng’s residence for two years, Onasola has been there for only a few months. They will be taken to court once the investigations are completed.”
