Former Barcelona midfielder, Arturo Vidal, has criticized Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, for his decision to part ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford for Saudi Arabia in January after finding himself out of favor under the new United boss, Ten Hag, and joined Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese superstar was considered surplus to requirements by the Dutchman and was offloaded just a few months into Ten Hag’s tenure at United.

Vidal strongly disagrees with this decision and didn’t hold back his opinions during a recent outburst on one of his streams. The midfielder, currently plying his trade in Brazil with Athletico Paranaense, was questioned about Ronaldo’s situation and came to the defense of the Portuguese icon while also taking a dig at Ten Hag.

“That coach came in and messed things up,” Vidal commented, referring to Ten Hag’s arrival in Manchester. “How can you possibly let go of Cristiano Ronaldo? That’s just not right. He was the top scorer, and yet he’s taken off. These bald guys can be quite complicated.”

Vidal’s reference to “bald guys” traces back to his time under coach Jorge Sampaoli, who managed the midfielder at Flamengo last season. Despite winning the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Cup during his season with the club, the 36-year-old played just 21 matches and often felt neglected by the Argentine coach Sampaoli.

Upon making his debut for Athletico Paranaense, Vidal openly criticized Sampaoli, labeling him a ‘loser’ and accusing him of failing to value his players.
