The police authorities in Abia State have officially verified the apprehension and subsequent confinement of Bishop Timothy Otu, the General Overseer of Agape Evangelical Ministry, commonly known as Bishop Timothy Otu, as reported.
Bishop Otu Detained Following Death of Female Evangelist in Aba Pentecostal Church
Bishop Otu is currently in custody as investigations continue into the unfortunate passing of a female evangelist associated with a Pentecostal church in Aba. The tragic incident reportedly occurred during a suspected incident at a guest house in Ovom village, within the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
A press release from the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, has identified the deceased female evangelist as Happiness Echieze, a devoted mother of five.
Chinaka elaborated that the accused individual has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) as part of ongoing efforts to delve into the situation. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been respectfully placed in the morgue of a missionary hospital located in the Ogbor Hill region of Aba, awaiting further procedures.
In her statement, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) stated the following: “On August 13, 2023, at approximately 9:30 AM, Mr. Godwin Akpan (male), a resident of Jubilee Guest House in Ovom Village, Obingwa LGA, reported an incident to the Isiala Ngwa Police Division.
It was uncovered that on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 9:25 PM, a male clergyman named Timothy Otu, associated with Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA, had checked into the guest house accompanied by a woman named Happiness Echieze (female) from Isiala Ngwa LGA, Abia State. Happiness Echieze was 43 years old.
Additional information provided by Mr. Akpan revealed that on the same date, around 12:00 AM, he entered the hotel room of the aforementioned clergyman and discovered the lifeless body of Happiness Echieze.
She was found unclothed, and a white substance was observed around her mouth and nose.”
She noted that the command has initiated initial inquiries into this issue.
