The Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Dr Yahaya Sa’idu, has died after a brief illness.
The council’s Information Officer, Ahmed B. Yusha’u, announced his death in a statement issued to journalists in Yola on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
According to Yusha’u, Sa’idu died at a hospital in Kaduna at about 1 a.m. on Saturday. Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced later.
His death comes 18 months after his predecessor, Shaibu Basbas, also died while in office.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the late chairman, with family members, associates and residents of Fufore Local Government Area mourning his passing.
Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, who represents Adamawa Central Senatorial District and previously served as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, expressed shock over the news.
In a condolence message shared on WhatsApp on Saturday, Abbas described Sa’idu as a dedicated and industrious leader whose contributions to Fufore and Adamawa State would be greatly missed.
“Dr. Yahaya Saidu was a committed leader who gave his best in service to his people. My heart goes out to his family, friends, associates, and the good people of Fufore Local Government Area during this very difficult time,” he said.
The senator also prayed that Allah would grant the bereaved family and the people of Fufore the strength, patience and fortitude to bear the loss.
Similarly, Ahmad Lawan, Senior Special Assistant on Security to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, expressed sadness over the chairman’s death.
Lawan extended his condolences to Sa’idu’s family, relatives and the people of Fufore Local Government Area, joining others in mourning the loss of the council chairman.
Further details regarding the late chairman’s funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the council.
