UCL Final: Gabriel Reacts After Missed Penalty in Arsenal’s Defeat to PSG

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has expressed his disappointment after missing a crucial penalty in the UEFA Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

The Gunners looked set for a famous victory after Kai Havertz gave them an early lead. Arsenal maintained their advantage for much of the match before PSG found an equaliser through Ousmane Dembele, who converted from the penalty spot after Cristhian Mosquera brought down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the box.

With the score tied at 1-1 after extra time, the final was decided by a penalty shootout.

Gabriel stepped up to take Arsenal’s fifth penalty but failed to convert, moments after Eberechi Eze had also missed his attempt. The miss proved costly as PSG went on to secure victory and lift the Champions League trophy.

Reacting to the defeat, Gabriel shared an emotional message on Instagram, admitting the result was difficult to accept while expressing pride in his teammates and gratitude to the club’s supporters.

“It’s painful, but I’m proud of this team and everything we achieved together this season,” he wrote.

The Brazilian defender also thanked Arsenal fans for their unwavering support throughout the campaign, encouraging them to celebrate the team’s journey despite the disappointing ending.

“Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way. You deserve to celebrate this journey with us and enjoy the parade today,” he added.
