Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has mocked former presidential candidate Peter Obi over his stance on marital infidelity.
In a social media post on Thursday morning, Olayinka referenced Obi’s viral comments from a past podcast interview in which the politician said he would neither divorce nor become angry with his wife if she cheated on him.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast in 2024, Obi said the shame from such an act would fall on the cheating partner, not on him. He added that his commitment to his marriage would remain unchanged regardless of the situation.
“As long as I am alive, she is my wife. That’s me. I can tell you that,” Obi said.
He further stated:
“Whatever she likes, let her do because what is she going to do that will offend me? Maybe have an affair? It is her business. It is not me. They wouldn’t say the two of us had an affair. They will say Peter Obi is a very good man who married a woman who… You can’t quantify me with the life of my wife or my children. No! We have different lifestyles.”
Reacting to the comments, Olayinka wrote:
“He doesn’t care if his wife had an affair outside their marriage.
“He doesn’t care about his son’s LGBTQ lifestyle.
“He is Mr One Shoe, alias Agbotikuyo.
“How exactly is a failed husband and father measured?”
