A video circulating online shows a group of Black South Africans allegedly addressing immigrant business owners of Asian and Arab origin in South Africa, urging them to employ South Africans rather than other African nationals.
In the video, a man is heard speaking at a gathering of shop owners, calling on them to “hire South Africans” for specific reasons.
A woman in the audience then asks, “So, what you’re basically saying is, if two shops don’t comply, we all suffer?”
The man responds, “Yes.”
The clip was shared online with a caption claiming that South African community members summoned Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and other non-African business owners to meetings, where they were allegedly urged to dismiss other African nationals in their employment in favour of South Africans.
