The abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Bright Abeke, has regained his freedom from captivity.
Abeke was released 10 days after he was kidnapped by gunmen who stormed his hotel, Debrofred, along Owumi Road in the timber town on Friday, April 11, 2026.
Sources said the suspected kidnappers arrived in a Range Rover and fired gunshots to disperse onlookers during the attack. A vigilante guard identified as Ufuoma and another individual sustained gunshot injuries in the process.
Details surrounding his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
