Britney spears has reportedly admitted herself into a rehabilitation facility following her DUI arrest in March.

The singer is said to be seeking treatment for substance abuse after reaching what sources described as “rock bottom” in the wake of the incident.

On March 5, Spears was detained by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence of “a combination of drugs and alcohol.” At the time of her arrest, an unidentified substance was reportedly found in her vehicle.

Her manager commented: “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

According to Us Weekly, that “help and support” is now taking the form of a rehabilitation programme. The publication reported that a representative for Spears confirmed she has enrolled in a facility where she will receive treatment for substance abuse.

A source also told TMZ that Spears’ decision to enter rehab was made with her upcoming court appearance in mind. She is due in court on May 4 in relation to her DUI charge.

The source added that Spears, who has previously struggled with alcohol and prescription medication, including ADHD drug Adderall, “knows strategically” that attending rehab “will look good in front of the judge,” as it demonstrates she is “taking it seriously.”

They also said she “hit rock bottom” following the arrest, but noted that her sons, Sean, 20, and Jayden, 19, have been strongly supportive of her decision to seek treatment.
