The father of Alex Iwobi has dismissed reports claiming the Fulham midfielder was the victim of a violent burglary.
On Tuesday, March 25, reports circulated that the Super Eagles midfielder had been targeted in a raid at his UK residence, with thieves allegedly making off with items worth an estimated £500,000. The reports claimed that the gang ransacked his home, stealing designer watches, jewellery, two iPhones, a MacBook laptop, and around £200,000 in cash.
In a clarification shared by ex-Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh, Iwobi’s father, Chuka, strongly refuted the claims. “I have just spoken to Chuka Iwobi, and he says there is absolutely no truth to reports that his son @alexiwobi was burgled,” Udoh posted.
Quoting Chuka Iwobi directly, Udoh added: “Alex is fine, and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for the friendlies. It’s so frustrating that someone can spread such falsehoods just for a few clicks. I’ve been inundated with calls and inquiries from well-wishers and have had to spend unnecessary time explaining that this story is completely made up.”
