Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah made history on Wednesday night, becoming the first African player to score 50 UEFA Champions League goals.

The Egyptian reached the milestone during Liverpool’s 4–0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, helping the Reds secure a 4–1 aggregate win and advance to the quarter-finals.

The 33-year-old brought up his half-century in the 62nd minute with a trademark curling strike into the top corner.

Salah is now just the 12th player in history to reach the 50-goal mark in the competition.

His record-breaking tally includes 47 goals for Liverpool, two for Basel, and one for Roma, surpassing the previous African record of 44 goals held by Didier Drogba.

Salah now leads the African all-time scorers chart by six goals ahead of Drogba, who netted 44 goals in 92 Champions League appearances.

In third place is Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’o with 30 goals in 78 matches. Fourth is Salah’s former teammate Sadio Mané, who scored 27 goals in 64 games, while Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completes the top five with 20 goals in 46 appearances.
