A man dubbed “China’s Nostradamus” has made a startling prediction about how tensions between the United States and Iran in the Middle East could end.
Xueqin Jiang, a Chinese-Canadian teacher and host of a hugely popular YouTube channel, has become an internet sensation for three forecasts he made in 2024 — two of which have already materialised with striking accuracy.
In May 2024, Jiang delivered the predictions during lessons at a high school in China where he works. Footage of the sessions was later uploaded to his YouTube channel, Predictive History, which currently has about 1.87 million subscribers.
Jiang, a graduate of Yale College, predicted that Donald Trump would win the 2024 U.S. presidential election and return to the White House for a second term — a forecast he says has already come true.
He also warned that if Trump returned to power, there would be a strong chance the United States would enter a war with Iran.
“This was his second prediction,” Jiang said in one of the videos, adding: “If he [Trump] does become president in a second term, there will be a very strong likelihood that the United States will go to war with Iran.”
Jiang argued that one of the key factors that could draw Washington into conflict with Tehran would be the strategic interests of Israel.
His third and final prediction concerns the outcome of such a conflict. According to Jiang, the United States would ultimately lose the war.
“The third big prediction is that the United States will lose this war, which will forever change the global order,” he said.
In several videos posted on his channel, the academic explains that Iran’s population size and difficult terrain would make any prolonged American occupation extremely challenging. He argues that the country’s logistics difficulties, internal resistance and rugged geography could quickly turn early battlefield successes into strategic setbacks for the U.S.
“If this war were to happen, there’s absolutely no way America can win this war,” Jiang said in another clip.
The history and philosophy lecturer compared a potential U.S. invasion of Iran to the Sicilian Expedition, when Athens launched a massive military offensive against Sparta’s allies — Syracuse and Corinth — in an attempt to seize control of Sicily, only to suffer a catastrophic defeat.
Jiang, who has been teaching history and philosophy at Moonshot Academy Beijing since 2022, says his predictions are based on studying recurring geopolitical incentives, historical patterns and concepts from Game Theory.
