Bandits have abducted six worshippers from a mosque in Azara community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A resident of Azara, Tanimu Ibrahim, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Monday, March 2, stating that the attackers stormed the community on Thursday while residents were observing Taraweeh prayers.

According to him, the bandits fired sporadically into the air before abducting six adults—four men and two women.

Ibrahim added that the gunmen also raided another house as they fled the community and abducted two additional persons. However, the two victims managed to escape while being led into the bush.

“Two other victims were abducted, but as God would have it, they narrowly escaped on their way into the forest,” he said.

A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed the abduction and identified the victims as Saifullahi Harisu, Yakubu Yunusa, Abba Minkailu, Yusha’u Sadiku, Maryam Abdullahi, and Aisha Yakubu.

The leader further disclosed that the abductors contacted the community on Friday morning, demanding a ransom of N30 million for the release of the victims.
