Nigerian singer Simi has addressed the controversy surrounding some of her old tweets that recently resurfaced online.
In a post shared on X, she explained that the tweets were made about 14 years ago when she was 23 and assisting at her mother’s daycare while working to build her music career.
According to the singer, she used to tweet freely about her daily life at the time, including what she described as funny or cute moments involving children, stressing that none of the posts were made with any inappropriate intent.
She stated that she would not allow anyone to twist her story to suit what she called false narratives, adding that she has always spoken out strongly against rape and sexual assault.
Simi further revealed that although she was initially reluctant, her team has begun deleting some of the old tweets due to the sensitivity of the situation and its impact on her family.
