A court in Nasarawa State has ordered the remand of a woman for allegedly mobilising her son and his friends to brutally attack a staff member of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC), Mr. Abdul Ishaka, in the state.

The DisCo, in a statement issued on Thursday, February 12, 2026, said the staff member was beaten unconscious while carrying out a lawful enforcement duty, raising fresh concerns about the safety of electricity utility personnel across the country.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on February 10 at about 1:00 p.m., when Ishaka, a Customer Representative Officer (CRO) stationed at the Karshi Service Centre under the Masaka Business Office, was performing his official duties.

The customer, identified as Mrs. Laraba Waziri, allegedly mobilised her son and his friends to attack Ishaka after he questioned why she had illegally reconnected her service wire to restore power following disconnection for non-payment (DNP).

Records indicate that the customer’s account has an outstanding debt of N272,499.47.
