Socialite Cubana Chiefpriest has once again taken a swipe at critics who faulted him for joining a support group backing the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Chiefpriest addressed Igbos who have been attacking him for supporting Tinubu, a Yoruba man, instead of an Igbo candidate like Peter Obi.
Responding to the backlash, he wrote:
“If an Igbo man supporting Tinubu is a betrayal, what is a Yoruba man supporting Obi? We can only be Nigerians if we want to partake in Nigeria.
What your governor, who has immunity, sees and aligns with is what you want a common businessman like us to battle. Tinubu is 20 steps ahead — can’t you guys read between the lines?
How can we comfortably decide to fail again all in the name of being tribalistic? For Tinubu to become president, he supported Buhari, a Hausa man, and waited eight years before he could become president. That is the ‘Emilokan’ he talked about. Tinubu served.
Leaving Tinubu to support any other candidate in this election is like not looking both ways before crossing the road. Follow who knows the road. Stay with the person who has structure so you too can tap in and plan for your own better future.
We have fought, protested, screamed, yelled, even lost lives, and nothing changed. We even did sit-at-home for years — nothing changed. The only option now is to serve and get settled. Only time will tell. If you can’t beat them, join them. Umunne, it’s better to be inside than outside. Think about it.”
