Activist Omoyele Sowore and rights campaigner Deji Adeyanju have reacted to a trending video of former Edo State governor and senator, Adams Oshiomhole, massaging his wife’s feet aboard a private jet.
In the video, Oshiomhole is seen seated opposite his wife, who had one of her feet placed on his lap as he gently massaged it. The clip has since sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians.
While some social media users argue that Oshiomhole has the right to live his life as he pleases, others questioned what they described as an ostentatious lifestyle, wondering how a serving lawmaker is able to afford such luxury.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adeyanju criticised the former labour leader, suggesting that his lifestyle was inconsistent with his known background.
“Comrade wey dey ball! Politics money is sweet. A former textile worker living like Pablo Escobar. No evidence he inherited money from rich parents or that he is a successful businessman or actively doing anything progressively as at today aside politics. Behaving like Wike whose only source of wealth is before harmattan there was cold,” Adeyanju wrote.
Sowore also weighed in, accusing Oshiomhole of being disconnected from the economic realities faced by ordinary Nigerians.
“Exactly. When ‘Comrade’ Oshiomhole says food prices have dropped, he’s not speaking from the marketplace, he’s speaking from 30,000 feet. A man who can casually rent a private jet for indulgent personal errands lives in a different economic universe altogether,” Sowore wrote.
He further questioned Oshiomhole’s ability to relate to rising living costs, adding, “How would someone so insulated from daily struggle know the price of garri, rice, or cooking oil? Hunger doesn’t register in first class, and inflation is invisible when your life runs on private jets and a privilege-filled lifestyle.”
